My Chemical Romance's Gerard Way's Comic To Be Made Into Movie?

My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way's comic strip could be made into a film, he has revealed.
The success of the first run of the singer's superhero series "The Umbrella Academy" has led to the title being optioned as part of a deal between publishers Dark Horse and Universal.
Director Alfonso Cuaron has first refusal on the project, but Way told SFX that he is not getting ahead of himself.

He said: "He's the only director who has the material at the moment. If we get the right people in place, it could be really amazing but I'm trying not to think about it too much. I'm keeping my head focussed on the comics.
"I would prefer people to read the comic first as a point of reference before any film comes out. But the first story ('The Apocalypse Suite') is really compact with a beginning, a middle and an end so you could easily make that into a film."
For now, Way is concentrating on the second series, "Dallas", which as previously reported, concerns the assassination of JFK.
"It's more political," he said, "something I've stayed away from in my music and in my comics. It deals with some pretty harsh subjects in American history. It's more relevant than the first series, which was a traditional story about being brought up good or bad.
"It's more violent for sure. The first issue sets the tone and the second and third subsequently become more violent.
"It's largely American. It's tough because we'd built this largely European universe. You don't know where the city they live in is but it's an amalgamation of London, Prague and places like that. So moving into American territory was a risk for us."
The first issue of "Dallas" is published on November 26.

My Chemical Romance's Gerard Way: 'I Think We Needed To Be Away For A While'

Last month, MTV News broke the news that New Jersey's own My Chemical Romance would be recording a cover of Bob Dylan's "Desolation Row" for Zack Snyder's forthcoming "Watchmen" film and that the song would be the soundtrack's first single when it hits stores this winter. That's cool and all, but what about the band's next studio effort? When can we expect that gem?

Well, not for a long while. See, My Chemical Romance have spent much of the last few years in promotional mode — touring, doing press interviews, shooting videos, etc. At the moment, they're in what frontman Gerard Way dubbed "go live" mode: They've all put MCR on the backburner as they pursue outside interests.Of course, Way's been working on his comic book series, "The Umbrella Academy," and is penning a top-secret project for DC Comics. Meanwhile, his brother, Mikey Way, is also working on a comic book, Frank Iero is starting a new band called Leathermouth, Ray Toro is busy getting married and helming his Weezer cover band, and Bob Bryar, well, he's in Chicago for some unspecified reason. The point is, My Chemical Romance need to live like the rest of us for a bit before they return to the studio."We can't make any more music unless we live," Way explained. "But I'm already starting to get the ideas and the aesthetics and everything, and it's very different from [2006's] The Black Parade."How so, Gerry?"It's hard to say at this point, but musically, how Black Parade tapped into the glam, classic rock of Queen and Ziggy Stardust, this taps into something different — not punk, but maybe in its proto sense. The aesthetic — it is extremely different, and it is more stripped-down too. When we get a chance, we're going to get together and do some demos and start rolling. But we're going to take it slow. I feel like we needed to be away for a while. People need to kind of miss us because there was a point in the last two-and-a-half years where you could have seen us at least once a month if you wanted." Way elaborated on the album's sound, contradicting recent reports that the band is moving in a more punk direction. "It's weird — sometimes you give interviews, and they catch you in a weird mood on the road, and you're like, 'Nah, I didn't say it was going to be a more punk-rock record, I just thought it would be more stripped of the bells and whistles,' " he explained. "But I think the concepts will always be progressive. "It will be more direct, more about life, and have more social commentary in there," Way continued. "That's where it's kind of heading now. It won't be a 'boohoo' record about 'Oh, we got famous,' but a commentary on how the world is now."

My Chemical Romance's Mikey Way knows a thing or two about comics — and not just because his brother, Gerard, is an acclaimed artist and an avowed comic book fanatic with an Eisner Award-winning series, "The Umbrella Academy" under his belt

"Nah, it's not just my brother — all my buddies are really into comics, including [famed artist] Jim Lee, who I talk to all the time," Way said. "I have, like, this council of comic book geeks — kids I knew growing up, everyone — and we're always having these conversations about books and stuff, these conversations where we go, 'Man, if people could hear what we're saying right now, what would they think?' "So, it seems only natural that Way would dabble in the industry himself, and though it took him a while — "I had lots of meetings," he said — he's finally penned an eight-page story that will appear in DC Comics' special "Halloween '08" book, which hits stores Wednesday.Way's story, featuring art by Mateus Santoluoco, is based on the "Legend of Sleepy Hollow" but stars none other than Batman and Scarecrow (it is a DC comic, after all) in a bit of role reversal."The story follows the Scarecrow as Ichabod Crane and Batman as the Headless Horseman. I took the character of Jonathan Crane and put him in Tarrytown, New York, in the 1700s," Way explained. "They gave me the option to write a story about any character in the DC Universe, and I was like, 'Well, I'm gonna do Batman. I've got to do Batman.' Then I had the idea for my story, and it seemed pretty straightforward, and I was sure someone else had done it already. So I had to go to all my friends — my council — and to Jim Lee, and be like, 'Has anyone done a Batman story like this before?' And we were all amazed that no one has."Then I just got down to writing it," he continued, "and it turned out that there wasn't that much pressure, because the whole book is artists and writers doing Halloween-based storylines. I ended up with something like 20 pages of dialogue, so the big problem was that I just had too much, and we had to cut some of it."Way says that he still hasn't even seen the finished book, but that he plans on picking it up tomorrow. And he's planning on doing even more comic book work in the near future: He mentioned collaborating with his brother and says he's bounced a few ideas off of Lee, too. That's probably a good thing, because it seems like he's going to have a whole lot of free time on the horizon. After all, things are pretty slow right now in his other job, playing bass for My Chem."The thing with us is that we're always in the process of writing. You know, everyone is sitting around, working on riffs, and everyone's got their own stuff going on," Way said. "Personally, I've just been diddling around with songs, and if I come up with something good, I'll call Gerard or [guitarist] Frank [Iero]. But what it really boils down to is this band really needed some time off, and that's what we're doing right now. We're getting great time off."Way said that he and his MCR bandmates have "hung out a bunch," but that the only time they've played together was when they entered a studio to record a version of Bob Dylan's "All Along the Watchtower" for director Zack Snyder's much-anticipated film version of "Watchmen." Other than that, the band appears to be miles away from beginning work on the follow-up to Welcome to the Black Parade, and though Way knows that news may disappoint fans, he promises that the wait will be worth it. Eventually."We're taking a long break, so we can come back fully recharged. The great thing about this band is that you never know what's going to happen next," he said. "We may write a bunch of stuff, and then a month later switch gears and do it all again. So if, say, we wrote some songs that sound like Rick Springfield, a week later they've all turned into Children of Bodom songs. I know it's going to be great; I just don't know what it's going to sound like. We're going to be just as surprised as everyone else, believe me."

Linkin Park Hit the Road with My Chem

It was like the Rock U.N. yesterday afternoon, with members of Linkin Park, My Chemical Romance and Taking Back Sunday converging on midtown to announce the Projekt Revolution bill and tour dates. Eschewing "the printed up stuff from management," Linkin Park members Chester Bennington and Mike Shinoda quickly invited My Chemical Romance lead singer Gerard Way and Taking Back Sunday members Adam Lazzara and Matt Rubano up on stage, uniting the three bands who will form the main stage of Projekt Revolution. "We can’t wait to get out there and destroy everything in our path," said Bennington. Ironically, in the midst of all that destruction, the band announced PR will be a "green" tour. Also, My Chemical Romance will reunite with recently departed guitarist Mikey Way, and for the first time they’ll be switching up their set and playing more than just their latest The Black Parade in its entirety, though MCR do promise to bring as much of their arena show to the tour as possible. "Maybe we’ll get new uniforms," Way said.

My Chemical Romance Get Some Awful Food Poisoning

My Chemical Romance and Muse were forced to cancel their world tour after a violent bout with food poisoning effected several members of the crew and both bands. The tour, which is booked through July and spans three continents, came to a screeching halt after a show at William and Mary College in Virginia left crew members scattered in hospitals "between State College, PA and Columbus, OH." Immune to fears of death and despair, only to be brought low by craft services. This comes on the heels of MCR lead singer Gerard Way announcing he’s "the happiest brother alive" after his brother Mikey decided to temporarily leave the band to spend more time with his wife and "do all of the things a newlywed couple should do." This is the second time Way has taken a break, the first during the recording process of The Black Parade due to severe depression and drug and alcohol problems.

my advance christmas story! LOLx

I was just thinking that it is almost September. The season that I like the most is just around the corner. I don’t know why but I feel a little bit different every time I could almost feel the Christmas Season. For me, Christmas is the most special season. It’s the season that we really must pay attention with. I like the feeling that one day there is really a Santa Clause! When I was young I used to hang my pair of socks. I’m so clever that I always hang a pair! But that’s not cleverness instead it is silliness. I was so silly that I think the more socks you hang the more gifts you’ll get! Well, seriously you can laugh right now. I really don’t know what the hell I was thinking back then! I always wait for 12mn. And go look for Santa fucking Clause. I’ll just catch myself in the morning fell asleep and never caught him. Sometimes, I got money and sometimes nothing. I always feel disappointed every time I got nothing. That I almost cry my eyes out! That’s a lot of years ago, I believe! Ahahaha! I’ll not spoil my whole Christmas story. Just wait until it’s December. Thanks guys! MCR rocking Taguig! Oh fuck I wasn’t there! The thing I regret the most! I’ve bought some tickets already before I knew that I’ll have my exams on January 24 and 25! And the concert was January 25! Hey people! Now, I wanna talk about my brother. He’s my greatest influence. Because without him, maybe I never liked or appreciated rock music that I’m into right now. He used to have a lot of bands like Jovials, Novella and the last band that he had was Sad Days. They always join some out of town Battle of the Bands. And fortunately, they always have something. They already recorded some of their songs before my bro left abroad. Most of their songs are slow or very emotional. Like the “emo” genre. But they never called themselves emo. Imbakan din ng personal na tala ang blog. Wala ring pakundangan ang blog na maghayag sa ibang tao para bang ang taong iyon ay kaibigan o kakilala kahit ni wala siyang kaugnayan sa blogista.

Ang blog ang malayang lugar ng mga seryosong usapan, na ang layunin ay maabot ang maraming tao na kapos sa impormasyon hinggil sa particular na larangan, gaya ng panitikan, agham at iba pang aspeto ng lipunan.

Hindi rin dapat minamaliit ang blog, dahil kung minsan, ang laman at anyo nito ay higit pa sa mga sanaysay na nalalathala sa magasin, diyaryo at iba pang babasahin, dagdag ng premyadong manunulat.

Ngayon, maaari nang ilathala sa blog ang mga tula, kwento, sanaysay o nobela. Iyon nga lang, may panganib na makopya ang mga akda nang walang pahintulot.

Siguro, kung buhay pa sina Andres Bonifacio, Dr. Jose Rizal at iba pang lider ng himagsikan at mga propagandista, baka ginamit na rin nila ang blog para ipaabot sa mga Pilipino ang kanilang damdamin para makamit ang kalayaan.

Malaking tulong ang blog sa pagpapalaganap ng mga akda at lathalaing nagtataguyod ng wikang Filipino at isinulat ng mga Pilipino.

These guys inspire me a lot! When I first heard their song I really didn’t find it catchy. That’s Helena (my brother was playing it) and it annoys me. But when I heard Welcome to the Black Parade at my school I start researching about them. And I saw a title (Cancer) from their album The Black Parade. It’s the first song I remembered when I opened my Youtube. I can’t think of any song so I just typed Cancer. Then after playing the song I played it again and again! It’s like uh… I fell in love with the song or the one who was singing. LOL. Then I listened to every song they had. And it’s all good! Then I’ve became a die-hard fan! Researching even the least information I must know. Even Gerard’s home address I know! And his foot size. Ahahaha.
That really makes me a certified fan!

You don’t know this guy? You’re not living in earth then. This is my ultimate crush when it comes to movies. I really like the way he acts. He was the big winner at the MTV Movie Awards taking home two of the night's big prizes, including Best Comedic Performance, despite admitting he's "not funny". See, he’s not funny at all though he always makes us laugh in his movies. That makes him a very great actor. And his other award was Best Villain for his lead role in Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street

I really like him that I bought all of his DVD movies except for Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. I haven’t planned to buy it yet. But I’ll surely do. The latest news about him is that Following close behind, Forbes rated Johnny Depp as their second highest paid actor. The Pirates of the Caribbean star raked in estimated earnings that totaled around $72 million within the same dates as Smith.

The first movie I’ve watched was Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. He’s so cute there! And I research again! I found his latest movie POTC2. Then I fell in love with him. But the really first movie that I’ve watched was Pirate of the Caribbean (The Curse if the black Pearl), but I was in grade school back then. I think I was 11 years old then. (I’m 15 now) So I can barely remember that the pirate there was him.

It just made me sad when I found out that he has a girlfriend and two kids. But when I saw Vanessa the things changed. I liked her. She’s so gorgeous! And I just think that Johnny really deserves her. And I think he is happy with her. So it’s fine with me. But there’s just one thing I don’t like about Johnny… his tattoos! I really don’t like guys with tattoos around their body! And there’s one tattoo that got my attention, it says that “Winona Forever”. Winona Ryder was his ex-girlfriend. Johnny got into many relationships which I don’t care much.

One more thing why I like Johnny is that he’s a music lover like me! He’s a rocker too. He plays guitar. When he was in highschool, he dropped out of school because of his band and because of his principal that gave him a piece of advise and said that just go with what makes him happy. Ok I’ll start my blog introducing myself…
First of all, I don’t want you guys to get bored while reading this… so I’ll just make it short. I’m Arlene Way (I never said my true last name). So if you wanna ask maybe you just shouldn’t.
I’ll not tell you the truth anyway!
I’m a hard-rockin’ type of girl. I’m 15 right now
I like listening to rock or any alternative music… that’s my genre.
I never got into other kind of genre. (Maybe, sometimes, but it really depends to my mood.)

I really like surfing the internet. And I wanna be a rockstar!
Yes you’re right it doesn’t make sense! Ahahaha!
Please don’t be shock if you’ll see me in the future getting my award on Grammy’s!
(That’s my dream!) So don’t laugh at it! LOL

When it comes to my background, I have an older brother (which happens to be my greatest influence), and I have an older sister… I’m the youngest of three.
My brother taught me how to play a guitar when I was 12 but he became very busy of his band.
I was frustrated. Before he leaves (he was 22 back then) to go abroad, he gave his electric guitar to someone! But I’m really trying my best now how to play guitar and piano at the same time.
So I attend my music class until now.

I have a great voice (I wanna thank God for that!) and I CAN GROWL!
(Yes fuckers who are envy right now!)
Just like what I’ve said, some people find it (growling) very annoying but to some they find it very sexy!

When it comes to dress, I always wear black shirt with pants and Vans shoes.
Sometimes I wear some kind of shirt, a mini skirt and Chuck Taylor shoes.
I’m very simple but very attractive! Ahahaha!
Sometimes I wear flip flops (Yes you heard it right!) FLIP FLOPS

Maybe you’re thinking that I’m a lesbian!
But HELL NO!
I’ve been in love many times. Is this necessary? LOL
Yes this is necessary! Just to prove to you guys who are reading right now!
I have a lot of crushes… one of those is Gerard Way (I’ll tell more about him in the next topic)
Second is Johnny Depp (Jack Sparrow of POTC) and some of my crushes are not actors neither musicians.
Sometimes classmates and sometimes teachers. Am I weird?
